Full time Physician Assistant opportunity with Carilion Family Medicine -Vinton and North Roanoke. Hours are M-F 800-500.

Monday and Friday will be at North Roanoke and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be in Vinton. No nights, weekends or holidays.

As such, PAs and NPs who have worked within Family and Community Medicine, for at least 1 year, will be scheduled to precept PA and NP students from our partnering programs.

This role includes responsibility for identifying the patient's health status through taking of health histories; performing physical examinations;

initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; management of trauma and acute health problems; health maintenance and clinical management of stable or chronically ill patients.

The Physician Assistant (PA) demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient’s status.

The PA interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and provides care according to departmental policies and procedures.

What We Require

Education Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.

Experience Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice / department preferred.

Licensure / Certification Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required.

Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.

Other Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier.

Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members.
