VA Western New York Healthcare system (VAWNYHS) is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Physician Hematology / Oncology to join its staff.

VAWNYHS is academically affiliated with the state University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo and provides medical, surgical, mental health and long-term care services through a range of inpatient and outpatient programs.

The staff Hematologist / Oncologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties :

• Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Hematology / Oncology clinic; as well as provide feedback and consultation with the other services within the Buffalo VA Medical Center.
• The Physician will evaluate, triage, and prioritize requests from Primary Care providers and others for outpatient hematology / oncology subspecialty consultations.
• They will obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
• The Hematologist / Oncologist will coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
• The Hematologist / Oncologist will perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).
• Provide Hematology / Oncology on-call services as assigned.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years).

Work Schedule : Monday through Friday; 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM, Tour will be discussed during interview process.
