ABOUT THE ROLE
An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an R&D Engineer - Chemist / Scientist within Honeywell UOP’s R&D Data Transformation and Testing Group located in Des Plaines, IL.
This position provides a unique opportunity to establish, improve, and execute catalyst testing capabilities to advance new catalyst product prototypes for UOP’s existing and emerging technologies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Operate 2-4 heterogenous catalyst testing and treatment units including :
oFixed-bed continuous flow laboratory plants,
oCombinatorial fixed bed catalyst testing and treatment plants, and / or
oHigh pressure batch autoclave reactors.
- Setting up and modifying systems to carry out catalyst testing.
- Utilize existing plant process control systems (primarily Honeywell or LabVIEW based).
- Troubleshoot plant operation problems and work with senior staff and project teams to find and address root causes.
- Perform basic laboratory operations for preparing catalysts such as solution preparation, wet chemical catalyst treatments, grinding, and particle sizing.
- Work with senior staff and project teams to improve data collection, handling, processing, and visualization tools.
- Provide summaries of results both verbally and in written form and discuss these with senior staff and project teams.
- Ability to occasionally lift 20 lbs
- Observe and maintain monthly Safety Management System requirements.
YOU MUST HAVE :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- 1+ years of experience using office applications (Excel, Work, PowerPoint,
- Mechanical aptitude expertise with standard tools as well as electronic equipment to maintain, build, modify, and troubleshoot lab plants and systems.
- Functional knowledge of chemistry concepts.
