Description
Summary
Responsible for managing the Loan Operations Department of the Bank and supporting the commercial and consumer lending functions.
Develop and implement best practices in loan operations related processes and procedures. Oversee ad-hoc reporting on the loan portfolio, as needed, in order to facilitate management decisions.
Proactive leader and team player with the ability to be influential and establish positive working relationships across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily workflow of the Loan Operations Department in an efficient and effective manner.
- Establish and maintain an efficient and productive working environment within the department based on continuous and effective staff communication.
- Provide Loan Operations staff with ongoing training and current updates on industry topics, standards and changes.
- Develop and achieve departmental goals within defined timelines, including a system to measure and track staff performance levels.
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with the lending staff (lenders and LPMs); provide updates on industry topics, standards and changes.
- Implement and / or update departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations as well as internal policy requirements.
- Conduct various assessments and audits to ensure department procedures are achieving accurate and desired results; implement clean-up procedures and required changes when necessary and as appropriate.
- Communicate with management team to coordinate system and control activities related to loan documentation and monitoring.
- Interact with internal and external auditors, compliance personnel and examiners to assist in all applicable reviews and examinations;
follow up and correct any items addressed and ensure necessary changes or recommendations have been implemented as directed.
- Maintain and modify setup of loan system within core to ensure it meets the on-going needs of the lending function.
- Oversee ad-hoc reporting of the loan portfolio.
- Perform other loan operations and job-related duties as assigned.
- Backup for loan operations staff as needed.
Requirements
Skills / Experience / Education
- Some college background strongly preferred, business or related degree a plus.
- 5-10 years relevant and current loan operations experience including minimum of 3 years at a management level.
- Expertise in all relative regulatory matters that affect lending, loan documentation preparation software, and knowledge in use and management of core processing systems.
- Experience with loan origination system preferable.
- Extensive knowledge of all regulatory guidelines affecting consumer and commercial lending (including, but not limited to HMDA, Fair Lending, and BSA).
- Extensive knowledge of all processes related to loan operations.
- Understanding of Louisiana laws regarding both consumer and commercial lending; familiarity with other gulf states preferred.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written along with solid interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of policies, procedures, compliance and regulatory issues that affect the workings of the department.
Essential Mental & Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
- Ability to lift / move / carry approximately 15 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift / move / carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department / division any "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated;
hence omitting lifting / moving / carrying as a physical requirement.
