About The Position
Job Title : Radiation Therapy Technologist Job Specialty : Radiation Therapy Job Duration : 11 months Shift : Monday to Friday, 8-hour days Guaranteed Hours : 40.
00 per week Experience : No minimum years specified License : State License in Radiation Therapy Certifications : ARRT, BLS (CPR) Must-Have : Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiation technology.
Registered by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy. Job Description : - Performs patient therapy treatments and related activities.
- Executes radiation treatments in accordance with established protocols.- Assists physicians in patient treatments and maintains patient records as required.
- Ensures the patient's clinical history is complete and completes associated paperwork.- Conducts QA / QC equipment tests and performs simulator procedures when required.
- Maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides a clean environment within the examination area.- Shares emergency call responsibilities as required.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.- Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs.
- Reports directly to the Chief Physicist and Radiation Oncology Manager. Skills Required : - Radiation treatment setup and performance.
- Proper operation of Linear Accelerators.- Fabrication of immobilization devices.- CT Simulation performance and operation.
- IGRT and IMRT application and performance.- Stereotactic Radiosurgery operation and performance.- Proper positioning of patients for treatment and simulation procedures.
- Ability to properly record treatment in the patient's chart as required.- Understands departmental policy for reporting and recording errors in treatment setup and appropriate action for correcting errors.
- Reviews patient charts prior to setup and understands patient positioning, collimator settings, SAD / SSD, and treatment techniques.
- Demonstrates knowledge of when a physician is needed for patient treatment as dictated by protocol.- Demonstrates knowledge and proper protocol for irradiating blood.
Physical and Mental Demands : - Ability to perform as a team member, cooperate with others, follow directions precisely, demonstrate initiative, and set priorities.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to function under stress.- Constant walking, balancing, standing, turning, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, handling, hand and finger movements, and wrist movements.
- Frequent stooping and sitting.- Occasional running, climbing, crawling, and crouching.- Rarely kneeling or throwing.- Must be able to use visual acuity for close paperwork, with color vision and depth perception.
- Hearing acuity for conversation, telephone, and background noise.- Must be able to lift, handle, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Operate medical equipment such as blood pressure machines, IV pumps, heart monitors, suction machines, and other pertinent assistive devices.
