Summary :

As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department at CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Hospital, you will be a highly skilled and trained medical professional who plays a vital role in the hospital.

You will be responsible for providing immediate and efficient care to patients experiencing life-threatening injuries or illnesses.

ER Nurses must have a strong knowledge base in emergency medicine, critical care, and trauma care to provide the best possible care to patients in emergency situations.

ER Nurses work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, and must be able to quickly assess and stabilize patients, and then decide on the best course of treatment.

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments.

The Registered Nurse (RN) administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs.

The Registered Nurse (RN) observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates as primary nurse, associate nurse, a team member or team leader in the planning and implementing of patient care.

The Registered Nurse (RN) directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptic technique and procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) offers leadership and direction to all support staff within department.

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline overlooking Corpus Christi Bay is the largest and foremost acute care medical facility in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer and stroke care.

It is the leading emergency facility in the area and the only Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.

Requirements :

A. Education / Skills

Associate's Degree in Nursing

B. Experience

One year experience in nursing preferred. Will accept a new graduate.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current Texas State RN License or Compact RN License
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS required at time of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtain ACLS by the end of the clinical orientation period.
• NIHSS required within 90 days of hire / transfer date
• De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire / transfer date
• TNCC required within 6 weeks of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtain TNCC within 18 months of hire / transfer date.
• PALS required at time of hire for experienced RNs. New graduate nurses must obtain PALS by the end of the clinical orientation period.
