Position Summary Department : ONCPRO BMT Program Status : Full-Time Shift : Nights Title : Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy Advanced Practice Provider (Nights) Nurse Practitioner, NP, ARNP, APRN, Physician Assistant, PA, PA-C, APP, Advanced Practice Provider The Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy team is seeking a night shift APP (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) to join the Bone Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy Program! ORLANDO HEALTH CANCER INSTITUTE As a top cancer care provider in Florida, Orlando Health Cancer Institute is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program consisting of six treatment sites and more than 10 practice locations that serve the region’s adult oncology needs.

Responsibilities Service-line specific duties : Demonstrates knowledge of the bone marrow transplant, malignant hematology and cellular therapy patient population Identifies and manages oncologic emergencies within scope of practice Facilitates after-hour admissions including orders, communication with consultants as needed and communication with BMT attending as needed Provide initial assessment and management of urgent care issues including but not limited to cytokine release syndrome (CRS), neurological toxicity and sepsis Provides reassessments when change in clinical status is reported by inpatient nursing staff Collaborates and communicates with rapid response and critical care team when higher level of care is requested Facilitate and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care Provides sign out to dayshift providers Acts as a role model and resource for inpatient staff during shift Essential Functions Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnosticn studies.

Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment; works collaboratively to formulate treatment plans. Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission and discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols.

Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of patients.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.

Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care.

Dictates and documents an accurate and timely manner. Maintains provision of preventive health services. Conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds.

Performs detailed history and physical examinations and documents inpatient H & P and discharge summaries (Must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising medical staff member within 24 hours and may not be substituted for physician H & P).

Writes or dictates reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record, Triages patients. Shares clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel and collaborates with other healthcare disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education / Training Nurse Practitioner MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing.

Physician Assistant Graduate of accredited physician assistant program. Licensure / Certification Nurse Practitioner APRN license in the state of Florida.

After July 1, 2006, licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board.

Maintains current BLS certification. Physician Assistant Maintain current physician assistant licensure in State of Florida.

Maintain current BLS / healthcare certification.
