About The Position

Job Title : Med Surg Registered Nurse

Must-Have : Must pass an open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90%.

Description :

The unit provides care for a variety of medical and surgical patients, including orthopedics.

Common staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 5-6 patients.

Charge nurses are present on each shift and maintain patient assignments.

Respiratory Therapy is available 24 hours on the floor.

Central telemetry monitoring is utilized for patient care.

Patient care technicians assist with nursing duties, with a typical ratio of 1 technician to 10-12 patients.

Shifts available are from 6 : 30 AM to 7 : 00 PM and 6 : 30 PM to 7 : 00 AM.

Weekend and holiday staffing may be required as needed.

There is no call or standby requirement for this position.

Floating requirements may include transferring to unit patient care areas as needed.

Scrubs should be navy blue.

The unit will provide classroom and practical orientation to ensure preparedness for patient care.

Requests for time off must be disclosed upfront, with a limit of seven days allowed during the contract.

The facility has a cancellation policy allowing for the cancellation of shifts under specific conditions.

This is an acute care setting.

The charting system utilized is EPIC.
