Job Description
SUMMARY
The Patient Safety Monitor- C.N.A., under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse, and / orthePhysician,providesage-appropriate,culturallyandethnicallysensitivecare,maintainsasafeenvironment,collects information, communicates effectively, and utilizes technology.
Provides continuous monitoring and supervision of selected patients who meet eligibility criteria for involuntary status under the Georgia Mental Health Code (1013, 2013, 1014, 1021 certificates),butarenotlimitedto,patientsrequiringsuicideprecautions,patientswhoneedsupervisiontopreventthemfrom falling or otherwise harming themselves when it is not feasible for the nursing staff to provide these services.
Advocates for patient / patient family and participates in performance improvement initiatives.Additionally, the Patient Safety Monitor will provide all ADL care as rendered by a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Long-Term Care Environment.
The CNA provides personal care of selected patients, assists with activities of daily living, provides comfort measures and nourishments, and performs selected therapies as delegated by a licensed professional.
The role of the CNA also includes patient advocacy and performance improvement.
Job Responsibilities
Assurespatientisassignedtoothernursingpersonnelasdesignatedbychargenursepriortoleavingforbreaksorat the endof shift. Stays with patient(s) as they are escorted and transported as directed by licensed personnel.
Recognizessignsofandmanagesagitatedandaggressivebehaviors,utilizesleastrestrictiveintervention,andutilizes correct technique in applying physical restraints.
Makesquickdecisions,andreportschangesinpatientconditionandinterventionstolicensedpersonnelinatimelymanner. Communicates patient care data / information accurately and functions in role with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates high level of monitoring and supervision at all times by not allowing distraction of TV, Radio, or any other entertainmenttointerferewithpatientsafety.
Ensurespatientstaysindesignatedareasatalltimesasdirectedbylicensed personnel.
Provides direct personal patient observation, care, and assistance.
Advocatesforthepatient / familyrightsandcommunicatesissues / concernsto the supervisor. Participates in committees and / or task forces as it relates to performance initiatives.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card required
- CNA Certification in the State of Georgia required
