Chief Purpose of this position : TheDepartment of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology is seeking an incumbentto provide expert management ofcardiology patients at VCU Colonial Square outpatient location (serving theTri-Cities area of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, and Petersburg).

The ideal candidate will be an experiencedgeneral cardiologist seeking a practice that will allow them to use the fullspectrum of their clinical and teaching skills to serve the primary servicearea.

VCU Health's Pauley Heart Centeris one of the preeminent heart centers in the U.S., and the successful candidatewill join a team dedicated to both academic discovery and outstanding clinicalcare for its patients.

Position Responsibilities :

Teaching To support teaching directly via interactions with Fellows, Housestaff and non-physician professionals.Periodically will be expected to present appropriate reviews in patient management discussions at Cardiology and Department of Internal Medicine conferences.

In addition, will be expected to participate in University Continuing Medical Education programs for practicing physicians which is important to enhancing patient referrals.

Research To support clinical research protocols as needed.

Service Will be expected to participate in quality, safety and efficiency initiatives

Clinical Will primarily be dedicated to the outpatient, inpatient and consultative services.Will be expected to share call with the Colonial Square group.

Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.) Submit billing and documentcare as required by the organization. Abide by all medical staff requirements.

Required Qualifications :

  • BC / BE cardiologist with demonstrated skills in cardiovascular disease
  • Clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for academic appointment
  • Communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program
  • Expected to participate in teaching and fellowship programs
  • Must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Virginia
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
