Overview

This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the NC ASO, National Guard (ASO-AASF 1 / Manning Doc 4621-038).

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

Summary : This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32).

Open to : National Guard members and reserves as specified in the agency clarification for CAT 1 (Areas 1-3) NCARNG. Application will only be accepted from current military members of the North Carolina Army National Guard.

Duties

As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, you will manage, monitor or perform maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft; ensure Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflect status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft; clear Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others; plan, develop and conduct proficiency training during the technician work week for a multi-faceted workforce; prepare for and participate in various readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • Exclusive to the National Guard; membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard is required prior to placement.
  • Selected person must wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes agreement with listed requirements.
  • Applicants must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the listed military grade.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Possible 1- or 2-year probationary period; employment ends unless certified in writing to advance the agency's interest.

Qualifications

Military Grades

Enlisted (E6 and below)

Requirements include three years of experience and / or training in troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and modifying aircraft and related equipment; thorough knowledge of electrical, fuel, hydraulic, environmental and mechanical systems; ability to use technical orders and maintenance regulations; ability to manage work sequences; eligibility for appropriate security clearance; potential for NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and Class III flying duties.

Minimum Requirements : Experience or training to remove and replace aircraft parts and components, and to make adjustments per specifications. Proficiency with hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : (at least 3 years) installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing major / minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on aircraft; coordinating work of other mechanics and scheduling maintenance for critical actions and workflow.
