Job Summary

Administers anesthetics to patients undergoing surgical and obstetrical procedures under the supervision of the faculty of the Department of Anesthesia at UCSF Medical Center.

Department Description

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) at UCSF are integral to nearly every aspect of the perioperative care at UCSF.

While CRNAs' licensure affords them the same independent practicing rights as their MD colleagues, the CRNAs at UCSF work collaboratively with UCSF's Anesthesiologists to form an Anesthesia Care Team.

UCSF CRNAs are licensed, registered, advanced-practice nurses who have completed a post-graduate master's or doctoral degree focusing on anesthesia practice.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year of CRNA experience
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and possession of the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing
• Graduation from a school of anesthesia accredited by the Council of Accreditation of Schools of Anesthesia; certification by the Council for Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center

License / Certification

• Active CA Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist license
• National Certification by the Council for Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
• Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification
• Valid certificate of completion from a Nurse Anesthetist program which meets the educational requirements of the California Board of Registered Nursing
