Position Responsibilities
- Identify vehicles to be loaded, moving them to and into the rail cars and ensuring vehicles are properly parked.
- Set hand brakes on all rail cars.
- Properly install the chocks on vehicles and apply the seal on the rail car doors once doors are shut.
- Identify and report potential day-to-day operational quality issues and potential improvements.
Qualifications for Rail Car Loader
- Valid driver’s license
- Working accurately & efficiently on individual assignments or as an active team member
- Excellent attendance and reliability are critical.
- Must be customer focus.
- Must be able to take directions and act accordingly.
- Must be dependable to meet job requirements
Physical Demands
This position requires the following physical demands :
- Lifting to 25 lbs.1-3 hrs. Throughout the day
- Standing 6-8 hours / day
- Walking, 6-8 hrs. / day
- Reach above shoulder level 1-3 hrs. / day.
- Bend, Stoop, Squat, and or twist-Repeatedly throughout day.
Environmental
- May be exposed to excessive noise depending on job location and operations in progress.
- Will be working around moving machinery and equipment daily.
- May be exposed to marked changes in temperature and / or humidity.
- May be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, radiation, chemical depending on the work location,
- Potentially walks on uneven ground.
- May be required to drive motorized equipment such as golf cart
