JOB SUMMARY
Simmons University seeks an innovative, dynamic, and intentional Assistant Director to join the Student Engagement team in the Jennifer Eckert Center for Leadership and Engagement.
The Assistant Director will play a key role in the oversight and advancement of student organizations, equity-focused student leadership development, and student-focused event planning.
The Assistant Director will receive support from and report to the Director of Student Engagement. The ideal candidate will have experience with event planning, advising student organizations, and strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Serve as the primary advisor for student clubs and organizations, including the registration andformation of new clubs and organizations on campus
Oversee student club and organization event planning, purchasing, and general day-to-daysupport, which includes collaboration with the Student Government Association, which overseesstudent organization budgets.
Develop and implement training and leadership development opportunities for student leadersof clubs and organizations
Oversee and manage the student engagement platform, Campus Connect, which is run on theCampus Groups platform
Oversee the coordination and implementation of programming efforts for the Jennifer EckertCenter for Leadership and Engagement, including welcome weeks, first six weeks programming,as well as ongoing programming throughout the year
Advise the Campus Activities Board
Manage marketing and social media accounts for the Jennifer Eckert Center for Leadership andEngagement, promoting a vibrant student life on campus.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the coordination and implementation of First Bite Orientation (fall and spring).
Participate in Admission panels, Friends & Family Weekend, and other University events.
Build and maintain strong campus partnerships with health promotion and wellness, athletics,campus police, facilities, event services, finance, and other University colleagues.
Serve as a Conduct Review Officer.
Serve in the after hours Administrator on-call rotation, responding to student concerns asnecessary.
Supervise student Office Assistants and Graduate Assistants as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required;
- One to three years of related experience (two years of graduate experience is equivalent to oneyear of full-time experience);
- Demonstrated experience overseeing, mentoring, and advising student clubs and organizations;
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations of students and diversestakeholders;
- Demonstrated experience with large- and small-scale event planning, implementation, andbudget management;
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends;
Ability to work in a student-centered, high-energy, fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in higher education, student development, counseling, or related fieldpreferred;
Experience working with student engagement platforms
