Job Description :
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality mammography procedures to assist in the early detection of breast cancer and other breast-related conditions.
This role involves patient care, technical skill in operating mammography equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct routine and diagnostic mammograms, ensuring all images are of high quality for accurate interpretation by radiologists.
- Prepare patients for mammography exams by explaining the procedure, addressing concerns, and ensuring their comfort throughout the process.
Verify patient identity and medical history.
- Operate mammography equipment, ensuring proper settings and technique for optimal imaging. Perform routine maintenance and calibration on equipment as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines for radiation safety, infection control, and patient privacy. Ensure compliance with FDA and MQSA regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures performed, patient information, and any pertinent findings. Document in the electronic health record (EHR) system as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay updated on best practices and advancements in mammography technology.
Minimum Education :
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with a focus on Mammography.
Licensure / Certification :
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Mammography.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Required Minimum Experience :
- Previous experience in mammography is preferred, but new graduates with clinical training will be considered.
