The Department
The is a California POST-participating agency with an authorized strength of 145 sworn police officers and 98 full-time non-sworn personnel.
Selection Process

Background Investigation
The final step of the selection process requires a thorough police background investigation. The background investigation will include a comprehensive investigation of the candidate's background which includes, Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check, education and employment history (including a credit, criminal and DMV review), personal statement, employment and personal reference check.
All City of Beverly Hills employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).
Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
Major Duties
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Receive and process all training requests within the Police Department. Make training school reservations and travel arrangements;
prepare cost estimates.
- Maintain all training records and training packets; and file all Police Department personnel certificates and awards.
- Process training reimbursement requests in coordination with the Finance Department.
- Perform compliance analysis checks in coordination with the CA Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) to verify staff completion of mandated trainings.
- Respond to other law enforcement agencies’ requests for applicant information.
- Receive all incoming calls regarding training, recruitment, and the hiring process.
- Prepare and mail all background correspondence for applicants being processed for Police Department positions.
- Coordinate appointments for oral interviews.
- Distribute and inventory equipment to Police Department employees.
- Perform expenditure reconciliation in coordination with the Finance Department.
- Compile statistics for end-of-the-month reports.
- Assist new or existing staff in learning departmental practices and protocols, methods and procedures.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

- Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Training
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be :
Experience :
One year of clerical experience. Local government office experience preferred.
Training :
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade.
A Citizen of the United States of America, or a lawful permanent resident, at the time of application.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of :
Methods and procedures for English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation and business letter and report writing.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Standard office practices, procedures, methods use of computer equipment, and relevant software.
Pertinent City and departmental policies, rules, regulations and procedures related to assigned function.
Principles and practices of recordkeeping and basic math.
Ability to :
