Job Title : Health Information Technician Job Specialty : Staff Augmentation Job Duration : 52 weeks Shift : Day 7 : 30 AM - 3 : 30 PM Guaranteed Hours : Information Not Provided Experience : Information Not Provided License : Information Not Provided Certifications : Information Not Provided Must-Have : Courses or experience in records management- Course or experience in medical terminology- Course or experience in typing- Knowledge of health information technology- Familiarity with regulations governing medical record keeping and patient confidentiality- Proficiency in medical terminology- Skills in using a typewriter, word processor, and calculator Job Description : Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
- Organize medical reports for placement in files and review charts to ensure all reports and signatures are present.- Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, fill out forms, and prepare requests for specific reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports such as daily and monthly census, admissions, discharges, or length of stay.- File reports into health information records, record information in logs, and retrieve health information records.
- Provide information from health records after determining the appropriateness of the request.- Coordinate with other departments regarding health information records procedures.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables within a familiar context.- Write routine business letters, evaluations, or records following standard procedures.
- Proofread medical reports and recognize errors; recognize when medical records information is missing.- Gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.
