Job Overview :
We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team on a contract basis, providing essential support for patient care and clinical operations.
The ideal candidate will assist physicians with various procedures, manage patient flow, and fulfill both patient care and clerical responsibilities.
This role requires a proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills, medical terminology knowledge, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patient care.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Provide patient care, including venipuncture, EKGs, assisting with mobility, and preparing patients for exams. Take vital signs, assist physicians, and relay instructions to patients and families as needed.
- Perform strenuous physical activities as needed, including heavy lifting and patient assistance.
- Fulfill clerical duties such as managing patient records, handling lab reports, and completing forms and requisitions using the EMR system.
- Enter orders into the EMR, prepare prescription refill requests, and assist with inventory management.
- Set up examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and follow proper infection control procedures.
- Maintain logging systems for medication refrigeration, sterilization, crash carts, and other equipment as needed.
- Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing of items according to policy.
- Ensure a safe and compliant work environment, adhering to safety protocols and legal standards.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous substances.
- Assist in maintaining medical charts, filing results, and supporting medical documentation.
- Schedule procedures or surgeries, coordinate with patients, and prepare charts and consent forms when necessary.
- Perform proficient phlebotomy duties and assist with patient scheduling, registration, and insurance verification.
- Update patient demographic and insurance information, handle pre-certifications, and manage the office schedule as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Qualifications :
- Education : High School Diploma or GED with a Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program.
- Certifications : Certified Medical Assistant (preferred) and BCLS certification (AHA).
- Experience and Skills :
- Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including telephone etiquette.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, HIPAA guidelines, and electronic medical record systems preferred.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic and evolving healthcare environment.
Schedule :
- Hours : 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM.
- Requirements : Candidates must live within a commutable distance of the facility.
