Job Summary :

The College of Nursing at the University of Kentucky invites exceptional candidates to apply for a full-time, 12-month Regular Title Series, tenure-eligible position, open rank of Associate or full professor with a possible endowed professorship.

We anticipate a start date on or after July 1, 2024, but may consider an earlier start date. This position is based in Lexington, KY.

We seek candidates who use innovative approaches to address important and challenging problems in all aspects of nursing science.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience or interest in cancer prevention and control, lung health, and / or tobacco control.

We are also interested in those with experience or interest in environmental exposures and / or disaster resilience / climate and health.

Research start-up fundsare negotiable for this Regular Title Series faculty position.

The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of grantsmanship and productivity in health-related research, a commitment to education, and collaborative, community-engaged research / scholarship.

The successful candidate may teach at the graduate and / or undergraduate levels; actively participate in service to the university and the profession;

and promote inclusive excellence among faculty, staff, trainees, and students. The prevailing candidate will be an intellectual leader in the field with high emotional intelligence, ambitious vision, collegial style, and the energy to inspire other nursing researchers and their collaborators.

This role will serve as a primary researcher and mentor for early stage and mid-career scientists in the college, related Centers, and other UK colleges.

UK Center for Appalachian Research in Environmental Sciences (UK-CARES), an environmental health sciences core center; and AppalTRuST, a tobacco regulatory science center.

Preferred Education / Experience

  • A PhD or Doctoral degree in nursing is preferred or a doctoral degree in associated field with a master’s degree in nursing.
  • A strong record of collaborative extramural research, education, scholarship, and service to the profession commensurate with appointment as professor with tenure in an area of specialization offered by the College.
  • An externally funded research trajectory as PI for appointment as Professor
