Position Overview : We are excited to announce multiple openings for passionate and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teachers to join our team in San Francisco, CA, for the 2024-2025 school year.
As a DHH Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized education and support to students with hearing loss, helping them thrive academically and socially.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss, tailored to their unique needs and goals
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, language development, and communication skills, using a variety of teaching strategies and technologies
- Collaborate with educational interpreters, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to ensure effective communication and access to the curriculum
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to support academic growth and development
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other team members to provide updates on student progress and discuss strategies for supporting student success
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development activities as required
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
- Valid teaching credential or license in Deaf Education or Special Education with a DHH endorsement
- Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- At least one year of recent experience working as a DHH Teacher in a school setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students with hearing loss and supporting their academic and social success
