Job Opportunity :
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Architect who possesses extensive technical and delivery skill to support our Boston based Claims IT team.
The role will aid in defining the future of our technical architecture and be integral to the solutioning and design for critical automation efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Research, analyze, and provide problem resolution and coordination with other subject matter experts across the enterprise.
- Lead the solution design and development of business requirements and technical solutions.
- Provide feedback, coaching, mentoring for globally distributed engineers.
- Make sustainable technical and architectural decisions for your team(s) and products while ensuring high levels of quality.
- Evaluate and select appropriate software, tools and integration methods.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering Leadership on the product roadmap while owning the technical portion of it.
- Navigate the ambiguity that is inherent in iterative product development.
- Actively seek ways to improve business software processes and interactions.
- Design Microservices that communicate via well-defined API’s.
- Define best coding practices, review of development team deliverables, and ensure application stays on the Upgrade Path.
- Help resolve technical problems as and when they arise.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience :
- Minimum 4 to 6 years’ experience with implementation of Duck Creek Claims Product.
- Strong understanding of the Duck Creek platform application architecture.
- Experience applying software design patterns to solve real world problems.
- Object oriented design, .NET development.
- XML / XSLT document design, JavaScript development, HTML5 & CSS.
- Hands on experience building applications in Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Architectural knowledge in building and scaling microservices base applications.
- Strong knowledge of datastores (RDBMS) and ability to make choice among available technologies based on requirements.
- Hands on experience in software development and system administration.
- Understanding of the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry is desirable.
- Ability to prioritize and handle work to critical project timelines in a dynamic environment and develop new approaches to complex design problems.
