JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Data Engineer is primarily responsible for participating in the design, development, and implementation of solutions for the data warehouse.

The primary focus of the data warehouse includes data and analytics that support business operations including Clinical, Patient Accounting, and Corporate functions.

This role is cloud facing and requires hands on experience in building and managing data engineering code in modern cloud-based technologies such as Google Big Query or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using GCP and SQL technologies
  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product, and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  • Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues
  • Participates in unit and system testing and follow existing change control processes for promoting solutions to production system, escalating issues as needed.
  • Design, develop, review, test, and deploy using CICD to facilitate the data warehouse solutions.
  • Identifies data integrity issues and analyzes data and process flows for process improvement opportunities.
  • Monitoring system performance and evaluate query execution plans for improving overall system performance.
  • Perform code reviews and assist developers in optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and maintaining existing solutions as required.

  • Ability to build and optimize data sets, big data’ data pipelines and architectures
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
  • Excellent analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets
  • Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience using software and tools including big data tools like Kafka, Spark; relational SQL databases including Big Query or equivalent;

workflow management and pipeline tools such as Airflow, and object function / object-oriented scripting languages including Scala, C++, Java and Python.

  • Strong SQL and relational database design / development skills
  • Development experience with cloud-based modern data warehouses such as Google Big Query or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of hospital information systems and understanding of health care system integration
  • Databricks, Data Lakehouse architecture, modern data pipelines experience a plus.
  • Building near real-time data pipelines a plus
  • Cerner, Meditech, CPSI, Allscripts, EPIC, McKesson, NextGen data integration experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills- ability to communicate with all levels of customers, vendors, and IT resources

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college / university in technology related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Prior experience with health information systems and / or patient financial service systems preferred

Compensation and Benefit Information

Compensation

  • Pay : $85,280.00 - $136,032.00 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.

  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college / university in business related or technology related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in information technology
  • 5 + years of Data Modeling experience; Delivering both logical models and physical designs. MPP technologies preferred.
  • 5+ years of Advanced SQL Coding / Tuning Experience in one or more of the following : Netezza, SQL server or Oracle.
  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare environment, preferable provider.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry and working with various billing, registration and EMRs is strongly preferable.
  • Possesses sound analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking ments may be complex in nature and modifications may be broader than the application have the ability to think creatively and incorporate current technical solutions with the end user in mind.

  • Lead teams within a matrixed organization
