Electronics Hardware Development Engineer

Summary : This role is responsible for the design, development, documentation, and introduction of electronic instrumentation products into manufacturing.

Responsibilities include managing internal product development and customer-driven projects, generating new product ideas, and producing evaluative documentation.

This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of managing projects to ensure timely completion of all design aspects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Develop designs for electronic instrumentation products ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.
  • Review project / product specifications, provide initial evaluations of design requests, and estimate for customer proposals.
  • Create realistic project schedules with milestones and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Lead design teams for work distribution, design, prototype, test, and document new products.
  • Ensure product and project documentation comply with ISO procedures.
  • Transfer product knowledge to Sustaining Engineers and Production personnel for manufacturing implementation.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge in electronic design, particularly instrumentation and calibration, including schematic capture, PCBA layout, EMI / EMC, and hazardous area approvals.
  • Have a basic understanding of embedded microcontrollers, communication protocols, and related hardware requirements.
  • Ensure designs conform to established manufacturing processes.
  • Interface with other organizational facets to ensure effective cooperation and optimal productivity.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree (BSEE) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of related instrumentation experience.
  • Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience in designing for CE noise immunity and hazardous area approvals (Explosion Proof and Intrinsically Safe).
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., CANbus, Modbus, TCP / IP) is preferred.
