POSITION SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for accurately maintaining the financial records by performing various accounting functions requiring professional competency.
Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and providing account analysis.
This position is exempt.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
General Accounting
Daily AP process, printing and coding Telco invoices from carriers
Billing to assigned segments and follow-up collection to keep AR up to date
Month-end close activities, including journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Reconciliation of assigned accounts, pass-through income and expenses, and Erate / CTF for the assigned segments
Preparation of monthly supplemental reporting for managers
Assist with processing telco carrier invoices and calculating and producing member CalREN billings and associated subsidies from Federal and State programs.
Assist in monthly tracking, monitoring, and reconciliation appropriate accounts impacted by Pass through transactions to Members.
Assist and support annual financial audits
Meet financial accounting objectives.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS :
Knowledge of GAPP (general accounting principles and procedures)
Proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot table). Knowledge of MS office applications.
Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in developing processes that includes checks and balances, including strong reconciliation skills
Strong accounting skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of employees, management, and external customers
Attention to detail and accuracy to provide quality financial information
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Ability to work independently with limited supervision to complete tasks by required timelines
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of two years of accounting experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
This position operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment including computers, telephones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
WORK HOURS :
The regular workweek is Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required based on CENIC’s business demands.
WORK AUTHORIZATION :
Documented Proof of identity and legal eligibility to work in the United States.
