Who are we looking for?
Our Southeast Engineering Design Organization (EDO) in Columbia, SC is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Designer to join their team.
In this role, you will assist with the electrical design of instrumentation and controls systems for municipal water, wastewater, and infrastructure related facilities using AutoCAD and Revit

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :
- Function within a consulting engineering environment engaged in multi-discipline project management and design services to support ongoing projects
- Possess skills and demonstrate proficiency in applying specifications for design of a variety of process instrumentation applications to measure and control process variables
- Work with process engineers and I&C engineers during project development stages to complete project P&ID's and to define the instrument scopes
- Develop the control loop design to interface the I / O with the control system
- Support design development with the I&C engineer to develop the control logic and communication protocols specific to the control system
- Prepare instrument, controls, and wiring detail and layout drawings
- Review manufacturers' and / or fabricators drawings and specifications for conformance to standards and specifications
- Support field walk down assignment under the direction of an engineer or senior designer.
- Adhere to all client design standards and work practices for each installation
- Adhere to all plant site safety and administrative procedures
What you will bring to the Team
- Associate's degree in Drafting / Designer, Electrical Engineering Technology or relevant design field
- 5-7 years of design experience supporting industrial facilities projects in water, wastewater, chemicals, refining, and / or pipeline markets
- Knowledgeable of applicable codes and client standards required for installations.
- Ability to collaborate with multi-discipline technical subject areas and general understanding within each
- Physical ability to work in the field to review project scopes, grasp project complexities, and gauge potential safety issues
- Manage multiple project tasks and maintain flexible approach to meet challenging deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
- Possible field investigations and construction observations may be required
