Summary :

This role requires the ability to work and act both independently and under the direction of a Safety Director. This role is responsible for ongoing development, coordination, and implementation of Business Units programs to ensure continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the company’s objectives.

Responsibilities :

Strategic and operational focus for implementing company practices, fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization, and developing the safety staff through observations, conversations, development strategies to achieve results of Zero At-Risk Behaviors, and the performance of the following responsibilities :

  • Develop meaningful and lasting relationships with internal team members and external personnel in keeping with the Core Values of the organization.
  • Development of safety staff in their safety profession and their influence on our safety culture.
  • Incorporate Company Safety & Health programs into field operations during project startup, operation planning, and tasks planning.
  • Share and provide technical knowledge with safety staff, regional leaders, and project staff to proactively manage exposures related to the work being performed.
  • Support safety training courses with development, delivery, and maintaining expectations in the field.
  • Actively involved in the development and modifications of the Company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization on company initiatives, Culture of Safety 24 / 7, and future of safety within the company.
  • Participate in Business Unit Safety team and Regional Safety teams to maintain a focused vision towards Zero At-Risk Behaviors.
  • Perform inspections, analysis, and report safety performance to internal and external clients.
  • Collect data, identify, and report causes of incidents and near-hits and collaborate with operational leaders to identify corrective measures and ensure these processes are implemented on the job site.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach with the ability to manage complex issues and drive completion of work in cross-functional teams.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written skills of technical documents and business correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite software : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and associated terminology is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification, Associate Safety Professional (ASP), and / or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • 10+ years of previous relatable experience is preferred. Pertinent professional experience may be substituted for the above educational preference.
