What will you be doing
This is a rare leadership opportunity. As the PR and Communications lead for North America, you will shape the strategy, development and implementation of our public relations, communications and content framework and associated initiatives for North America, in ways consistent with our Four-Year Marketing Strategy and regional plans.
Your key focus will be to drive major earned coverage across broadcast, online projects, influencers, partnerships and other bold and innovative projects while proactively seeking integration synergies across Paid, Owned, Earned and Trade initiatives.
Utilising your superb communication skills; you will oversee an in-house team, agency, plus a wide variety of stakeholders.
Fostering positive relationships with media, industry representatives and travel trade will be at the heart of who you are.
You will identify media risks and secure relevant high impact opportunities that advance Destination New Zealand's brand identity in market that catapults preference and appeal for New Zealand.
What you will need
- Experienced and inspiring PR and Communications leader with experience delivering high-performing earned marketing campaigns leveraging impactful and engaging content.
- PR and communications experience (minimum of 7 years) within a global organisation.
- Superior writing skills.
- Strong network of media and influencer contacts, and experience liaising directly with media, KOLs and productions as well as traditional offline media expertise.
- Experience managing large-scale integrated earned projects and well-developed project management skills.
- Ability to think innovatively and creatively about marketing and PR issues.
- Must have the right to work in America and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Māori culture is an integral part of both New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand, therefore a willingness to discover and embrace Te Ao Māori including basic Tikanga and Te Reo Māori is a requirement.
