Overview :
The Market Access Consultant will provide expert guidance and strategic insights to pharmaceutical companies to help them navigate the complex landscape of payer coverage and reimbursement in the U.
S. This role involves working closely with clients to develop and implement market access strategies that ensure optimal product access and value.
Additionally, the consultant will play a key role in business development and thought leadership to expand the Parexel’s client base and market presence.
Key responsibilities include :
Strategic Advisory
Develop Market Access Strategies : Collaborate with clients to create tailored market access strategies that align with their business objectives and product value propositions.
This includes identifying key market access opportunities and challenges specific to the U.S. healthcare system.
Market Analysis : Conduct comprehensive market research to understand payer needs, competitive landscape, and market trends in the U.
S. Provide actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.
Client Engagement
Initial Contact : Establishing initial contact with potential clients through networking, referrals, and industry events.
This involves understanding their needs and challenges to tailor your approach.
Build Relationships : Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, payers, managed care organizations, and other stakeholders.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on market access issues.
Trust and Credibility : Building trust and credibility by demonstrating your expertise and understanding of the market access landscape.
This can be achieved through consistent communication, delivering valuable insights, and showcasing past successes.
Long-Term Relationship Management
Client Retention : Focusing on long-term relationship management to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.
This involves regular check-ins, understanding evolving needs, and offering additional services.
Value Addition : Continuously looking for ways to add value to the client relationship. This can include sharing industry insights, offering new solutions, and helping clients stay ahead of market trends.
Project Management
Manage Projects : Lead and manage multiple market access projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to achieve project goals.
Budget Management : Oversee project budgets, ensuring that all activities are delivered on time and within budget. Provide regular updates and reports on project progress and financial performance.
Business Development
Identify Opportunities : Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the Parexel’s client base and market presence.
This includes networking, attending industry events, and leveraging existing relationships.
Proposal Development : Develop and present proposals to potential clients, showcasing the Parexel’s expertise and value proposition.
Tailor proposals to meet the specific needs and objectives of each client.
Client Retention : Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
Identify opportunities for additional services and support.
Thought Leadership
Industry Expertise : Establish yourself as a thought leader in the market access field by staying current with industry trends, policies, and innovations in the U.S. healthcare system.
Content Creation : Develop and publish white papers, articles, and case studies that highlight best practices and innovative solutions in market access.
Public Speaking : Represent the Parexel at industry conferences, webinars, and other events. Share insights and best practices with peers and stakeholders through presentations and panel discussions.
Networking : Build and maintain a strong professional network within the industry to enhance the Parexel’s reputation and influence.
Experience Requirements
Education :
A bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Health Economics, or a related field is required.
An advanced degree (e.g., MHA, MPH, MBA) with a focus on healthcare or business is highly preferred.
Professional Experience :
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in market access, managed care, or health economics within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful market access strategies in the U.S. market.
Experience in business development, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and securing new clients.
Experience in negotiating with U.S. payers and managing payer relationships.
Technical Skills :
Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare reimbursement landscape, including knowledge of payer systems, formulary management, and health policy.
Proficiency in market research and data analysis tools.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Soft Skills :
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
