Financial Forecasting & Analysis Consultant (Hybrid)

This position will work 3 days in office out of the One M&T Plaza in Buffalo, NY.

About the role :

As the the Financial Analysis Consultant you will be a key player in the "forecasting and analysis" of the bank's financial performance by analyzing historical results and predicting future outcomes.

You will demonstrate expert-level knowledge of finance and accounting concepts that will provide comprehensive advice / options to senior management for use in setting strategic objectives.

A strong knowledge on how internal and external variables interact with each other to influence business performance is critical.

What you'll do :

Strategic Finance Forecasting and Analysis :

• Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of finance and accounting concepts through the aggregation of financial data.
• Display an expert-level understanding of M&T's (or applicable Business Unit within) financial statements; including awareness of key drivers / trends in major Balance Sheet and Income Statement line items
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of a departmental discipline and independently convey findings to senior management. Independently perform detailed, interpretative financial analysis utilizing complex financial tools to demonstrate scenarios / activities.
• Develop clear, concise written summations of complex analytical work.
• Need experience producing reporting and writing analysis of the information that will be presented to senior leadership for quarterly earnings.
• Independently develop improved financial departmental tools and processes.
• Shows accountability for accuracy and quality of work products within a discipline
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.

Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required :

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum 7 years’ experience OR Associate's degree and a minimum 9 years’ experience in accounting, auditing, operations or financial institutions
• Broad and comprehensive understanding of theories and practices in finance and accounting within the commercial banking industry
• Strong understanding of financial concepts / theory and how it relates to profitability reporting

Education and Experience Preferred :

• Advanced degree or professional certification (i.e. CPA, CFA, etc.)
• Prepare quarterly Board of Director presentations and other key presentations to guide strategic decision making.
• Proven track record of accurate forecasting, with the ability to identify trends and provide insightful analysis
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $100,611.

94 - $167,686.57 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
