Job Summary

As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels.

Your expertise in marine electrical systems, navigation equipment, and communication systems will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our maritime assets.

Must have two years marine electrical experience and / or four years electrical experience. Must pass client assessment.

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and ship building practices necessary. Ability to use power and hand tools and read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals required.

Must have ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be available to work any shift. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions and hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.

Essential Job Tasks

  • Prepare work areas, drill holes and grind metal surfaces
  • Install welds and hook up equipment
  • Lay out, pull, rip out, repair and install cable and conduit
  • Test electrical equipment
  • Read composite blueprints, computer printouts and Navy standards manual
  • Removes scrap and performs general clean up
  • Other tasks as may be assigned relevant to the trade

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and repair marine electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, navigation equipment, communication systems, and control panels.
  • Perform electrical maintenance tasks, such as testing circuits, diagnosing faults, and replacing faulty components to ensure reliable operation.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to identify appropriate procedures for installation and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical work, including maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with other marine professionals, including engineers, technicians, and shipfitters, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the vessel’s infrastructure.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for marine electrical work is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Marine Electrician, with a strong track record in marine electrical system installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Expertise in reading, interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams and technical manuals related to marine systems.
  • Knowledge of marine electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Safety & Environmental Factors :

All employees are expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.

Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
