GENERAL DUTIES
Schedules patient appointments :
- Coordinates with physicians, and nurses, and schedules patient visits and appointments.
- Guides patients regarding basic queries regarding the appointments and assists with rescheduling and follow-ups as necessary.
Schedules surgical procedures :
- Schedules surgery procedures using the preferred EMR scheduling block system.
- Accurately gathers basic information relative to scheduled patients.
- Familiarizes with inventory supplies and surgical procedures.
Communication and Customer Relations skills :
- Answers phone professionally and courteously.
- Maintains constant and courteous telecommunications with surgeons, nurse coordinators, and secretaries.
- Maintains and promotes good working relationships within the hospital and the department.
- Escalates issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Administrative duties :
- Completes daily surgical schedule and distributes as appropriate.
- Scans in surgery / PACU / SPD logs to the appropriate file.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Required : High School Diploma / GED or equivalent AND 1 (one) year of experience in a physician’s office or surgery scheduling.
- 3 years of experience will be considered in lieu of education.
