The Office of Financial Regulation (OFR) is responsible for licensing, chartering, examining, and regulating depository and non-depository financial institutions and financial service companies throughout the state of Florida.

The Work You Will Do :

This position is a member of the team that provides legal support to Consumer Finance, Financial Institutions, and Securities Divisions.

Attorneys provide advice about licensing, examinations, and investigations, prepare administrative charging documents for violations, and participate in the disciplinary process by negotiating settlements and litigating cases.

SPECIAL NOTES :

This position is being advertised Statewide and may be used to fill multiple vacancies.

A Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required .

Additional requirements :

  • Applicants are required to be members of the Florida Bar.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience in the practice of law.

Preference will be given to applicants with :

  • Experience in administrative or financial regulatory law.
  • Experience in conducting investigations or depositions.

Work samples may be requested to verify competence.

The OFR operates from five (5) different office facilities throughout the state of Florida. This position may require 1 25% travel, and more depending on the selected candidate’s primary office location.

A valid driver’s license is required.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000.00 to $75,000.00.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Knowledge and experience of Chapter 120, Florida Statutes.
  • Knowledge and experience with appellate, civil, and administrative litigation.
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare reports.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be results oriented.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft software.

OTHER KSAs (Incumbent may learn on job) :

Effectively utilize agency hardware and software programs.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :

Renders legal advice and counsel to agency personnel on OFR policies and regulations, legislative matters, statutory interpretations, and rule promulgation.

Drafts contracts, proposed orders, declaratory statements, written agreements, correspondence, and other related documents.

Provides cooperation and assistance to Assistant State Attorneys and law enforcement agencies concerning criminal enforcement matters.

Performs work related to above duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.
