ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Discusses assigned duties with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Performs duties as assigned in such areas as the principal's office, classrooms, guidance office, media center, computer labs, or other special areas.
- Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids.
- Supervises groups to and in the cafeteria, library, playground, restrooms and other areas as
- Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques as directed by the teacher.
- Operates learning aids and technological equipment including computers.
- Assists others in the use of computer programs (teachers and students).
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning
- Prepares, administers, grades student assignments, and assists with filing of student records and / or work.
- Assists teacher in preparation of reports and / or materials.
- Assists in conferring with parents on progress of students.
- Assists in maintaining cleanliness and general upkeep of classroom.
- Assists other staff in the department, as requested.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Drive a school bus when required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from high school.
- Three to six months related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children.
- Knowledge of typical behavioral patterns and issues as it deals with children.
- Ability to follow oral and written nstructions.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
- Ability to operate various media and technology equipment such as computer, television, VCR, cassette player, overhead projector, laminator, copy machine and various other office equipment.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situtations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, employees, and the general public.
- Required to obtain a CDL and Bus License.
- Required to serve as a substitute bus driver and / or regular bus route driver.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, hearing, talking, and repetitive motions.
While performing the responsibility of this job the employee is regularly expected to stand and walk and sometimes has to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Must be able to obtain a CDL in order to drive a school bus.
