ABOUT THE ROLE

The WSJ Communities team is looking to hire an Executive Director, Content Development for our C-Suite membership communities.

The Community Team is responsible for engaging and retaining the world’s most influential business leaders as members. They will facilitate members sharing timely insights, experiences, analysis, and peer connections, enabling them to make critical decisions that improve the lives of stakeholders they serve.

The Executive Director works as part of a team to develop a vibrant community of members within the vertical, facilitating maximum engagement in our network benefits to provide value.

The Executive Director, Content Development is responsible for delivering a vibrant slate of topical experiences relevant to C-Suite executives throughout the year.

They work alongside newsroom programming to supplement and add experiences throughout the calendar of member events. They will have their pulse on the topics, issues, and themes that are important to our members.

They will develop and produce innovative experiences, including peer- and expert-led exchanges both virtual and in-person that are highly relevant to our C-Suite membership communities.

They will research and draw on knowledge of community members’ expertise to create a year-long calendar, working with community managers, marketing, and events teams to drive engagement.

Results will be driven by building relationships with members, soliciting their feedback, doing research, and partnering with key internal stakeholders to provide highly curated experiences.

The Executive Director, Content Development will work closely with the Community Director(s) and Executive Director of Strategy to align experiences with overall engagement strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build calendar of peer-to-peer programming and member-led events and experiences

Research speakers and themes that resonate with our membership

Have a keen understand of the unique expertise of the membership community

Attend membership events (in-person and online)

Partner with News, Events, and Marketing teams to provide innovative experiences

Assist Events team with production and logistics

Work with Community Managers to garner members’ thoughts on how to best improve and personalize their experience, both at the individual level and at events.

Work with other members of the Community Team to gather member insights to share with News, Events, Marketing, and Sales

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 15 years of business experience ideally managing relationships with and creating programming for C-Suite Executives and other high-level stakeholders.

Demonstrated track record of exceptional programming

Ability to work closely with executive teams and understand what is relevant and valuable to C-Suite members.

Ability to attend a schedule of in-person events throughout the year. Some travel may be required.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work in a team and matrixed structure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior newsroom reporting / editing is a plus.

Experience working with members of a professional leadership council.
