Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring a Welcome Desk Receptionist in Orange County Operations. In general, the work of this position includes performing general office duties requiring the ability to sit and / or stand for long periods of time.
Under general supervision and acting on own initiative, performs receptionist and various clerical duties that support the operations of the Orange County campus, in Hillsborough and The Europa Center, located in Chapel Hill.
Both the OCC and Europa Center are satellite locations serving Orange County residents with a variety of courses.1.Creating a welcoming environment by appropriately acknowledging and greeting callers andwalk-in customers with a smile.
2.Promptly answering calls in a personable and professional manner.
3.Answering all questions related to college services, as well as questions related to DurhamTech procedures, programs, deadlines, and terminology.
4.Asking probing questions to ensure that we are properly assisting callers, walk-in customers,and students providing complete and accurate information, and using proper referral sourcesas appropriate.
5.Making Welcome calls to those students that applied to Durham Tech from Orange County.
6.Assisting students with the set-up of student ConnectMail, WebAdvisor and SelfServiceaccounts.
7.Provide clerical, word-processing, and database management services to support theactivities of the department.
8.Perform other appropriate duties that may be necessary to support the needs of the satellite campuses, as assigned.
9.Use good judgment without constant or direct supervision.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience :
Prior customer service experience, preferably in an office setting. Experience working with Colleague, Sakai, Self-Service, and Microsoft Team programs is preferred.
Multi-lingual preferred.
- The employee must possess superior communication skills, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- The employee must be prompt and dependable every day, as the Welcome Desk must be continuously staffed during published hours of operation.
- Familiar with NC Community College system.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Normal Working Hours :
This Receptionist position will work up to 20 hour / week. A schedule will be established and maintained to include being available at peak hours and days of the week to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
The schedule for this position primarily involves afternoon into evening availability and job location could rotate between Durham Tech's Hillsborough and Chapel Hill locations.
