About The Position
Job Title : Surgical Technologist Job Specialty : Neurology Surgery Job Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : 10-hour days Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week Experience : Minimum of two years surgical scrubbing experience or graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology License : Not specified Certifications : American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS);
Certification in Surgical Technology preferred Must-Have : High School Diploma or GED- Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques- Ability to follow standards recommended by the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)- Understanding of drug-free workplace policies Job Description : Provide care for patients based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs across the lifespan.
- Perform scrub duties during the intra-operative phase of care.- Recognize and report significant conditions and reactions to the appropriate medical personnel.
- Adhere to patient safety principles, maintaining a sterile environment and aseptic techniques.- Organize and prepare the operating room by collecting required supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by draping, scrubbing, passing instruments, sutures, and holding retractors.- Respond to surgeons' needs proactively throughout surgeries.
- Manage surgical specimens according to established policy.- Communicate effectively and concisely with the surgical team.
- Function as a clinical resource for colleagues, including other surgical technologists, nurses, and medical students.- Assist in resolving clinical and operational issues to improve patient care quality.
- Orient and teach new staff members.
