Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer - Energy Practice in Austin, TX.

This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

Responsible for the I&C engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff.

Occasional travel to client / project sites.

Builds analytic and design skills.

Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements :

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or in another related field.

Preferred Qualifications :

Knowledge of instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, and analytical instrumentation and control valve sizing principles.

Knowledge of control valves including valve sizing.

Familiarity with Piping and Instrument Diagram Development (P&ID).

Familiarity with control systems including PLC or DCS based systems including automation and programming.

Familiarity with control systems for solar or wind facilities including facilities with BESS systems.

EIT / FE or ability to obtain EIT / FE certification.

Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, PIP, NFPA, etc.).

Familiarity with InTools and SmartPlant based systems.

Strong written and verbal skills.
