Massage Therapist Job Description & Performance Expectations
At WAC, we offer Massage Therapy for member and non-members so that they have the opportunity to improve their wellbeing by reducing stress, relieving pain, improving circulation and promoting relaxation and recovery.
As a Massage Therapist, you are responsible for building a client base, welcoming clients at check-in, processing payments and rebooking cancellations.
You must be licensed and registered by the state. This is not a behind the scenes position you are on the front-line letting your personality shine and connecting with Team Members, club members and guests.
You make relationships with members and guests you see every day via aggressive hospitality. You have the incredible opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.
I. Daily Operations
- Display a member first attitude by not only being raving fans of WAC, but also for creating raving fans; we are all responsible for attracting and retaining members.
- Be visible and interact regularly with clients and prospective clients using smile, name and eye contact.
- Attend Massage meetings.
- Responsible for working or finding subs for scheduled massages, informing Team Lead with changes.
- Maintain cleanliness of Massage area before, during and after sessions.
- Be available for communication with therapists and Team Lead; respond to correspondence in one business day.
- Maintain SOAP notes for all clients via SOAP Vault.
- Follow all Massage department policies and procedures.
II. Team
- Participate in 90-day review and ongoing Massage Therapist evaluations.
- Communicate to Team Lead all concerns, suggestions and complaints.
- Pursue ongoing personal and professional development and share what you learn with others.
- Be a team player strive to help out wherever and whenever possible.
III. Safety
- Know the Safety Plan and Emergency Action Plan.
- Maintain Massage area safety and cleanliness.
- Own and immediately resolve Massage problems to ensure member and guest safety.
- Report all Massage issues and broken equipment to the GM, Manager-On-Duty or Maintenance team.
- Maintain good standing for state license, national certification and CPR.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines for privacy.
- Follow all insurance, liability and incident report procedures.
IV. Financial
- Communicate the value, benefits and pricing information to current and prospective Massage clients.
- Accurately schedule Massages in the member relations management system to ensure correct payroll.
- Complete individual Massage payroll by due date and time.
V. Income Generation
- Achieve or exceed Massage goals.
- Do part to help exceed Aquatics goals both individually and department-wide.
- Follow up regularly with clients to ensure Massage rebooking / retention.
- Share promotions with Massage clients, such as Buy 100, Get 20 events.
- Up-serve or recommend additional services of interest to our members.
VI. Programming
- Assist in Massage programs and events.
- Utilize the Program Process when creating or evaluating Massage events.
- Sign up for upcoming programs, activities and events to increase overall WAC product knowledge.
- Participate in community organizations and positive social media to actively promote club.
VII. New Member Integration & Retention
- Welcome all new Massage clients and connect them further to other programs and events.
- Utilize the 5-foot rule if you are within 5 feet of a member or guest, engage them with a WAC greeting.
- Follow up regularly with clients to ensure retention.
- Be personally committed to fitness by actively going through the retention program sessions.
