Registered Nurse (RN)

We are hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for one of our clients in Coxsackie, NY.

Job Description :

Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as primary focus. Works with a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.

Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols.

• Responds to and initiates, care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• This includes the ability to perform continuous CPR until properly relieved.
• Administers and documents medications on the Medication Administration Record.
• Documents all nursing care provided.
• Performs histories and physicals on inmates.
• Assesses patient health status and refers to appropriate level of healthcare provider. Physically assists Physician in patient examinations and treatments.
• Implements and follows up on Physician / Dentist verbal and written orders.
• Teaches healthcare information to patients and correctional staff.
• Collects samples, specimens and cultures per Physician orders.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
• Follows security regulations for keys, sharps and controlled medications.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Performs venipuncture and I V therapy.
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications :

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current valid state license for Registered Nurse.
• Possesses an active CPR certification.
• Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.

• 10 : 45 PM to 7 : 15 AM
• Meal : 30 minutes
• Number of openings : 1

Note :

• 5 days a week Must be willing to work every other weekend Maximum Male Facility.
• Please make sure that your nurse is aware that this is a Long Term Care unit.
• Only 60 patients. We are not in general population.
• We do bedside nursing, similar to a nursing home.
• When filling out the License Type, Expiration & State field, please do not just list as active.
• All of these pieces of information are required to be filled in that field by client when reviewing clinicians.
