Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a variety of material-handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting merchandise.
The equipment utilized in these functions is Forklifts, Electric and Manual, Pallet Jacks. The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient use of these vehicles.
The Forklift Operator is also responsible for order selection and checking as the need dictates. The Forklift Operator must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Shipping and Receiving : Unload and load trailers and verify proper stacking and freight not being mixed on pallets, one item to a pallet as required unless instructed otherwise.
Stretch-wrap pallet as required to ensure product stability.
Checking : Prior to product storage, count all products, compare your counts to the drivers’ manifest, and check all shipments for damage, infestation, and production code dates.
Report shortages, damages, and misplacements to your immediate Lead / supervisor who will forward the information to the appropriate parties.
Must be able to move products to the storage locations. Must also stack and store the product in the appropriate areas.
- Must be able to verify receipt of the product at the appropriate temperature.
- Over, Short, and Damage : Identify and recover any received or shipping damage consistent with Company policy. Report all shortages and overages to your area supervisor.
- Ensure proper stock rotation by following lot number identification.
- Order Picking : Pull and prepare the product for shipment, ensure that the exact number and type of product is located and shipped, and ensure that the product comes from the proper locations and the lot numbers agree to the picking documents.
Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards. Pallets are typically built to a height of approximately 7 feet.
- Loading : Efficiently move product from the staging or storage areas into trailers.
- Equipment : Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, slip sheet, or other power equipment.
Maintain the facilities, equipment, and materials in neat, clean, orderly fashion. Daily inspect and verify equipment is operating after the day’s activity starts.
Advise your supervisor of any problems encountered. Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods.
Responsible for any additional tasks delegated by management.
Job Qualifications
- Forklift Certification is required.
- Accuracy of all paperwork produced.
- Follow all customer requirements.
- Assist supervision / management as needed.
- Follow company policies, guidelines, and work instructions.
- Maintain professional relationships with the carriers and customers.
- Functions may vary depending on areas of operation.
Working and Environmental Conditions
- The position position requires work in a variety of work environments. Forklift operators will work in a wet refrigerated manufacturing facility with temperatures below 40°ree;
- F, a dry warehouse environment with temperatures reaching up to 85°ree;F and / or in freezer warehouse conditions at 10°ree;
F. Work areas may be tight and will require continuous exposure to noisy environments exceeding 85 dBA. Strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed shoes.
The role demands the ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently and safely.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand and walk for the entirety of the shift. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs with continuous motion.
Must be able to push / pull 100 lbs with continuous motion. Must be able to navigate manufacturing equipment and facilities including repetitive bending, kneeling, reaching over head with both arms, stooping, squatting, and twisting.
Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and work at heights when needed. Must be able to regularly use hands to handle, grasp and control objects with good gripping strength and manual dexterity.
Occasional exposure to moving machinery. Must be able to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam.

$17 - $19 / HR DOE
