GENERAL SUMMARY :
Serves as an internal expert resource regarding data management operations, including
programming. Oversees the day-to-day operations, personnel management, quality
improvement, and strategic planning for data operations including availability and
security of data assets. Assists with the development of operational plans and monitors
the progress and performance of data management and programming services for
research projects; to include service quality, data integrity, timeliness of deliverables,
and adherence to budget. Develops and implements strategies to enhance the
performance and capabilities of Data Operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Serves as an internal expert resource for faculty and staff with regard to data
management and programming services.
2. Develops, implements and maintains efficient approaches to acquisition,
maintenance and characterization of research datasets available internally and
collected from distributed research networks, payers and other sources.
3. Oversees the development and implementation of workflow and operations
processes across projects. Monitors progress and performance and ensures that
services are performed in accordance with timeliness, quality standards, applicable
regulatory requirements and budgetary limits.
4. Collaborates with other functional groups, partners, and vendors, including scope
development and management of deliverables to achieve research aims and
departmental / organizational goals.
5. Devises optimal data collection strategies based on research aims
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Three years of directly related data management experience. One year
management experience.
- SAS and database management programs, preferred.
- SQL Management Studio, preferred.
- Working knowledge of medical coding guidelines for diagnoses, procedures, drugs
and ancillary services including ICD, CPT, HCPCS, SNOMED, LOINC, and NDC
coding systems, preferred.
Five years analytical, data management & reporting experience in a health care
setting, preferred.
- Certified in Epic Clarity is highly desirable.
- Experience in managing projects in health services research, data analysis
programming, research data management environment is highly desirable.
Experience with EHR and payer datasets and clinical research data is highly
desirable.
