Are you passionate about journalism and eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic newsroom environment? We are seeking interns to join our esteemed media family in four vibrant Louisiana markets : New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to develop your reporting, writing, visual and digital skills. This is a unique chance to contribute to the rich tapestry of local news and engage with communities across the Pelican State.
Our paid internships are full-time and typically last 8-10 weeks over the summer break. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
Key Responsibilities :
Reporting Intern :
- Conduct thorough research and interviews to gather information for compelling news stories.
- Craft well-written, accurate, and engaging articles on a variety of topics.
- Collaborate with editors to refine writing skills and adhere to journalistic standards.
- Master digital reporting skills.
Photography Intern :
- Capture impactful and visually compelling photographs to accompany news stories.
- Work closely with the photography teams to enhance your creative skills.
- Cultivate video storytelling skills.
Sports Writing Intern :
- Cover local sports events, providing insightful analysis and engaging narratives.
- Develop a deep understanding of sports reporting techniques and industry trends.
- Collaborate with the sports desk to produce content that resonates with our diverse audience.
Digital Intern :
- Manage and update content on our digital platforms to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Collaborate with the online editorial team to enhance the user experience.
- Stay abreast of digital media trends and contribute innovative ideas for online content.
Qualifications :
- Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program or recent graduate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in journalism and media.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
