Overview :

The In vivo Associate Scientist II position will execute in vivo support for pre-clinical biomedical imaging and pathology studies toward pharmaceutical discovery and development.

Studies will include rat and mouse biodistribution, disease model development, drug efficacy, and toxicology-like studies in neurology, oncology, and other therapeutic areas.

The qualified candidate will implement animal models and communicate data and project updates. This position will provide an opportunity for growth and exposure to cutting-edge sponsor research projects.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Meet timelines for pharmacological models and associated techniques
  • Assess study protocols for experimental details
  • Preferred functioning set of classical skills :
  • Test article administration IP, SC, IM
  • Rodent veterinary care and husbandry
  • Compound handling and formulation (some experience)
  • Tissue resection and micro-dissection (some experience)
  • Biological sampling procedures (some experience)
  • Survival surgery techniques desired but not required
  • IV and CNS administration desired but not required
  • With some supervision model execution of :
  • Efficacy studies
  • Biodistribution studies
  • Pharmacokinetic studies
  • Toxicokinetic studies
  • Xenograft models
  • Ability to work with IACUC to implement and ensure compliance of animal use protocols and SOPs.
  • With some supervision procurement of animals
  • Work with some supervision to prioritize tasks according to study timelines
  • Communicate details of your work with scientists and managers
  • With some supervision work with radioactivity, radioactive and BSL2 samples
  • Gamma counting
  • Sample disposition
  • Proper handling and disposal of associated materials

Qualifications and Skills :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in animal science or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in the biomedical / pharmaceutical research industry performing responsibilities noted above
  • Ability to multi-task is highly desired
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly
  • Comfort with various computer operating systems and programs
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work alone and weekends

Highly Desired Skills :

  • IV Dosing
  • Ability to perform minor surgical procedures
  • Experience working with anesthesia
  • Experience working with radioactivity
  • Experience working with BSL2 animals and samples
