The Department of History, Anthropology, and Modern Languages and Literature at Eastern Washington University seeks applications for an adjunct faculty member who will teach an accelerated, asynchronous online graduate reading seminar in Modern Latin American history with a thematic emphasis (Gender, race and ethnicity, the environment, etc.
at the discretion of the instructor. The accelerated, fully online MA program in History offers graduate degrees for working professionals who are unable to attend a campus MA program.
Responsibilities :
The successful candidate will teach the class 2-3 times a year. Duties include :
- Teaching the class, including student communication and grading
- Professional and consistent communication with EWU staff and faculty as needed
- Adjusting the course as needed, including readings and assignments, at the discretion of the instructor
Screening will begin IMMEDIATELY. The first course is scheduled to begin in Fall 2024.
Required Qualifications :
- Ph.D. or ABD in Latin American History
- Two years of teaching experience at the college level, online preferred
- Course-specific requirements of graduate-level coursework experience in Early and Modern Latin American History.
- Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or an approved exemption as defined by the State of Washington Vaccination Policy.
- Passing a Washington background check
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Canvas CMS
- Experience teaching at the graduate level
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in an online environment
Compensation :
$4,500 to $5,250 for teaching each section of the class.
