Overview
The Associate Color & On Product Marketing Designer supports the Aeropostale and Lucky Brand Design teams by creating and managing seasonal color palettes and on-product marketing that address the needs of the product line and follow the overall design direction.
They will work with the cross functional team (Design, Production, etc.) to collaborate on seasonal color palettes & on product marketing development, ensuring trend and brand-right color stories and physical on-product marketing.
They will manage all workflows for these design areas to adhere to the product development calendar and achieve the goals of the business.
Responsibilities
Color Design :
- Research trend and color stories from runway, brand competitors, forecasting services, and pop culture / social media filtered through the lens of SPARC lifestyle brands.
- Develop and present market-informed POV on seasonal color palettes for both Lucky Brand and Aeropostale (mens and womens).
- Establish seasonal color palettes for both brands by collaborating with brands VP’s and Design Directors to meet needs of business while still moving needle forward on color trend.
- Collaborate closely with concept designers and VP of design to capture cohesive color stories that enhance and echo the seasonal concept themes.
- Redevelop annual fashion neutrals palette 1-2x a year. Have a keen eye for slight shifts in the market
Color Materials Management :
- Build Chipped palettes and create palette kits for Design, Merch and Production teams seasonally.
- Create Digital representation of palettes.
- Support Design team in PLM system by maintaining palette libraries and seasonal color tracking documents. Occasional color systems training as needed for new hires in Design and Merch.
- Manage, maintain and refresh color supplies for design teams.
- Support Design team by color matching various bought samples and swatches.
On Product Marketing Creation (Aeropostale Only) :
- Create on product marketing artwork mechanicals in illustrator from established brand templates and create design variations as needed, collaborating with graphic design team.
- Ensure all artwork is consistent and brand-right, often serving as a liaison between design, concept, and marketing teams to support cohesive visual identity.
- Foresee and flag potential execution, cost, branding, or legal road blocks and partner with cross function team to determine best path forward that still protects design intent.
On Product Marketing Workflow Management and Approvals (Aeropostale Only) :
- Share artwork request schedule with design teams and follow up with team leads as needed to ensure timely requests and artwork completion.
- Log all artwork numbers and descriptions in excel chart for documentation.
- Partner with trims PD manager to ensure all artwork is passed to suppliers and entered into PLM.
- Update marketing guides in InDesign seasonally, partnering with designers to ensure placement and usage callouts are correct.
- Approve and comment on supplier digital artwork proofs and physical trims.
- Have a general / entry level understanding of printing and color execution and trim qualities to inform the approval and request process.
Qualifications
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Excel and Microsoft Teams
- Understanding of youth and adult markets and how they pertain to color and on product marketing design and strategy
- Strong color sense with ability to filter by brand and end use
- An eye for graphic design and layout
- Basic knowledge of trims & printing execution, background in clothing design is a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple workflows and shift priorities based on changes in calendars
- Detail oriented and strong sense of follow through.
- Travel may be required, based on business needs.
- Adhere to regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration. Job duties may be performed effectively using the hybrid work program designated by the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as the company retains the right to change duties to this position.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

- Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to constantly operate a computer, other office equipment and look at a monitor for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to clearly and accurately communicate and exchange information verbally, in writing, or through other means in person, telephonically, or through virtual communication methods
- Ability to reach at or below shoulder level
- Ability to carry equipment, move boxes / samples, etc.
Requirements & EEO Statement
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 ANNUALLY. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to position offered and work experience.
