The Foundation

We are the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on a simple premise : people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives.

We believe our employees should reflect the rich diversity of the global populations we aim to serve. We provide an exceptional benefits package to employees and their families which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with no premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, foundation-paid retirement contribution, regional holidays, and opportunities to engage in several employee communities.

As a workplace, we’re committed to creating an environment for you to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Team

Our Global Health Program (GHP) harnesses advances in science and technology to save lives in poor countries. We focus on the health problems that have a major impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding.

Where tools exist, we support sustainable ways to improve their delivery. Where they don’t, we invest in research and development of new interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics.

The Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) team has two overarching impact goals : to eradicate, eliminate, or control 8 of the 20 Neglected Tropical Diseases recognized by the WHO and to improve non-NTD health outcomes using the NTD delivery platform.

This person will be a member of the Product Development Domain and report to the Deputy Director of PC Operations Research and Product Development.

Your Role

As a key member of the Neglected Tropical Diseases team, the Senior Program Officer (SPO), Product Development, is accountable for designing, executing and managing a portfolio of grants and contracts to develop drugs, vaccines and diagnostics to accelerate elimination of eight priority NTDs.

  • Partner closely with team leadership to set the strategy for new product development within the overall NTD strategy.
  • Design, negotiate, and manage a portfolio of grants or performance-based contracts in support of the NTD strategy.
  • Manage information related to grant portfolio and domain-level data.
  • Consult, provide thought partnership, and support to grantees and other partners.
  • Appropriately liaise with drug development, vaccine development and diagnostic development experts.
  • This role will require the ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Your Experience

  • PhD and / or MD with 15+ years of work experience.
  • Experience in end-to-end drug development or vaccine development required.
  • Knowledge of and experience in neglected tropical diseases preferred.
  • Experience working with and in LMIC settings preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new disease areas and new drug development technologies quickly.
  • Demonstrated excellence in scientific writing and data analysis.
  • Proven program and stakeholder management skills.
  • Sound judgment with a demonstrated ability to handle complex issues.
  • Exceptional listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for the Foundation’s values.

Salary Range

The salary range for this role is $229,100 to $355,200 USD. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise.
