The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for operations involving facility infection control, housekeeping, laundry and janitorial services.

The Supervisor is responsible for selection and training of employees. We offer :

100% paid medical, dental and vision, employer paid life insurance and AD&D for employees working 30+ hours / week (Option to buy-up if desired).

In addition, we offer a Flexible Spending account for medical and childcare reimbursements with a $500.00 rollover feature (No Rollover on childcare) AND the option to purchase Long Term disability insurance.

Eligibility begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 403(B) plan (Eligibility on 403b 20+ hours per week) We match 50 cents for every dollar saved up to 10% of your annual salary.

Matching begins the first of the quarter following 1 year of employment. Full-time employees are eligible to accrue up to 16 paid time off days, 6 paid holidays and 3 personal days.

Pro-rated paid time off is available to part-time employees.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Manages daily housekeeping, janitorial and laundry services operations through direct observation and communication with staff.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Interacts with residents to answer their questions and advise them of available housekeeping and laundry services.
  • Provides leadership and training for department employees.
  • Maintains master calendar of quarterly / semi-annual / annual resident service cleaning projects.
  • Ensures staff work scheduling is managed to effectively cover daily assignments and services.
  • Ensures staff has the equipment and supplies necessary to complete their assigned tasks. Conducts inventory control, ordering equipment and supplies through approved vendors.
  • Conducts daily inspections to ensure the facility meets sanitation and cleanliness guidelines and expectations. Takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Inspections of all technicians work on a daily basis.
  • Supervises residents’ daily security ring check. Reports unusual findings during security checks.

Essential Duties as a Manager :

Completes all annual staff performance appraisal forms; delivers to Human Resources through Department Director by due date.

Meets with staff members on an ongoing and continual basis to review performance and provide feedback, guidance and instruction needed.

  • Selects candidates, trains, assigns and supervises staff or through subordinates. Ongoing evaluation of performance of staff, initiates disciplinary action and consults with Human Resources regarding employee issues.
  • Plans for and recommends space, staffing, training and equipment needed to meet needs and / or to provide other services.

Needs are demonstrated by budget, goals and objectives, reports and other departmental records.

  • Assists Director with annual budget that meets operational and financial goals.
  • Participates in applicable committees and meetings as required.
  • Completes required training in-services.
  • Responds to internal and external communication timely and appropriately utilizing customer service approach.
  • Promote a teamwork mentality throughout all aspects of position.
  • Communication and support of campus wide initiatives and goals to staff level to ensure all employees are aware of the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Supports employee safety programs and initiatives, ensuring no lost time caused by work related injuries.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience :

  • High school degree or GED.
  • 2 years’ experience in EVS required
  • 1 year supervisory experience in EVS required. 2 years preferred.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of ordering and controlling supplies inventory.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and laundry equipment and operations.
  • Strong team building skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities and multi-task.
  • Ability to provide training for staff.
  • Common sense and good judgment.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
