The College of Health Professions invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as the Director of Postprofessional Education in the Department of Physical Therapy.
Responsibilities :
Under the director of the Department Chair, the Director of Postprofessional Education leads the ongoing development, operation, and evaluation of postprofessional physical therapy education programs.
We offer a variety of accredited physical therapy residency programs (orthopaedic, neurologic, cardiovascular / pulmonary, and wound management), and a fellowship in orthopaedic manual physical therapy.
The Director oversees curricula and collaborates with the program coordinators for each residency / fellowship program regarding resident / fellow development and performance, as well as mentor development and performance.
Outcome assessments, financial and resource planning and management, as well as new program development, are performed in consultation with the Department Chair.
The Director will be involved in teaching in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, research / scholarly activities, and service to the College, University, and community.
Responsibilities include classroom / laboratory instruction related to contemporary clinical practice; advisement and mentoring of students;
admissions and accreditation activities; committee involvement; and research / scholarly activities. There may be opportunity for clinical practice at the onsite Physical Therapy Clinic.
Qualifications :
Earned doctoral degree required; CAPTE-recognized terminal academic degree (, PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS) preferred or current enrollment in a terminal academic degree program.
Earned American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Certification.
Active, unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist in Georgia or immediate eligibility.
Minimum of five years of physical therapy clinical practice including experience as a supervisor / manager, clinical instructor, and / or faculty member in an academic institution.
Knowledge of the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) and / or the Accreditation Council on Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Education (ACOMPTE) Quality Standards, and Accreditation Processes and Procedures.
Experience with the development of formal and informal clinical affiliation agreements.
Experience with curricular assessment of residency / fellowship program including analysis and evaluation necessary for completing ABPTRFE and / or ACOMPTE annual reporting.
Two or more years of experience as a residency / fellowship program coordinator or residency / fellowship program director preferred.
Active involvement in the physical therapy profession and understanding of key issues in physical therapy education.
