Position Purpose : Oversee all medical treatment components of the Rosecrance Griffin Williamson and other Rosecrance child and adolescent psychiatry programs.
Ensure continuity of program services in an ethical, legal and moral manner within a safe and therapeutic environment, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
Participate as a team member in the delivery of addictions / mental health treatment services to patients and their families and facilitate the issues of recovery into their daily living situations.
Qualifications / Basic Job Requirements :
MD or DO with demonstrated experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and addictions treatment or a related fieldBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Board of Addiction (ABAM) Certification, or will achieve American Board of Preventative Medicine (ABPM) certification within 18 monthsDemonstrated clinical competency in admission and discharge, assessment, treatment planning, bio psychosocial management and aftercare planningDemonstrated clinical competency in applying the current versions of the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and the ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) Patient Placement Criteria.
Proven ability and preferably experience in actively participating in and leading multidisciplinary teams focused on promoting recoveryBelief in the mission and vision of Rosecrance
Essential Responsibilities :
- Ensure that patients have appropriate physician / medical coverage and ensure the provision of physician and mid-level clinician services
- Support leadership in evaluating physician and mid-level clinician competencies and other assigned projects.
- Provide daily guidance on performance expectations for physicians and mid-level clinicians within their respective settings.
- Ensure that a system is in place for monitoring the performance of all care practitioners, including all key performance indicators as set forth by leadership.
- Provide feedback to clinicians, physicians, and healthcare practitioners regarding their clinical performance and skills.
- Lead the clinical staff in the development and implementation of biopsychosocial interventions to treat behavioral health clients.
- Assume the responsibilities of the Chief Medical Officer in the event of their absence.
- Participate in regular leadership meetings contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to client care.
- Collaborate in developing, approving, and implementing program-specific clinical practices for integration into care-related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with licensing and accreditation requirements and promoting best practices.
- Establish and maintain an on-call procedure for site physicians, ensuring it meets the needs of clinicians and clients in the program.
- Engage in reviewing, responding to, and participating in external surveys and inspections condcucted at federal, state, and local levels.
- Assist in reviewing policies and procedures to ensure the protection of patients’ rights and address ethical considerations effectively.
- See patients regularly to evaluate and treat their problem list according to program policy and / or standards of care

- Establish systems and methods for reviewing the quality and appropriateness of clinical care and other health-related services and participate in the quality improvement / PI process.
- Advise on infection control issues and approve specific infection control policies to be incorporated into program policies and procedures.
- Promote a learning culture by educating, informing, and communicating with physician and clinical staff about important timely clinical issues.
- Provide information to ensure care delivery aligns with current standards of practice, as defined by research, expert consensus, and recognized organizational guidelines.
- Develop medical information and communication systems with staff, patients, families, and other stakeholders.
- Represent the professional and lay community on medical and patient care issues.
- Maintain knowledge on changing factors affecting client medical and health services and evaluate emerging behavioral health practices for Rosecrance.
- Maintain active membership in professional communities such as AACAP and ASAM and serve as an effective and upstanding representative of Rosecrance.
- Provide leadership and oversight with other physicians regarding timely completion of clinical documents necessary for good clinical care and reimbursement.
- Provide necessary information for projects related to obtaining or application of grants and contracts.
- Be available to the media on occasion when an expert in your field is needed.
- Monitor, review and revise medical and treatment procedures as appropriate for continued compliance with SUPR, TJC and Medicaid / Medicare regulations and generally accepted medical practice.
- Help provide a safe and caring environment; promote employee health and safety.
- Exercise confidentiality in keeping with the Code of Ethics and with the framework of the law.
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
- Serve as a role model for other staff, patients and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance.
- Assume other related responsibilities as delegated and assigned leadership.
