Job Description

Job Summary & Responsibilities :

Multi-Asset Solutions ("MAS") is an investing group within the Asset and Wealth Management Division at Goldman Sachs. MAS is responsible for managing customized multi-asset class portfolios and funds in a discretionary manner for institutional clients.

Our clients include all of US and international corporate and public pension plans, insurance balance sheets, endowments, foundations, healthcare institutions, and sovereign wealth funds.

The team is comprised of professionals with deep and varied investment backgrounds who specialize in designing and implementing customized multi-asset class portfolios.

The team applies rigorous techniques to strategic and dynamic asset allocation, asset-liability analysis, portfolio design and implementation, risk management, and portfolio reporting and analytics.

The team has been managing customized multi-asset class mandates since 1995 as a committed partner to large institutions globally.

Role :

The successful candidate would become a member of our investment team based in New York supporting our CIO's in their oversight of Research, Risk and Portfolio Management, Portfolio Construction, and Manager Research functions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for both directed tasks, originating from the co-CIOs, as well as self-appointed tasks that reflect inputs from the Investment Center team and the successful candidate's own leadership activities.

In addition, the successful candidate will help to communicate our investment views, both internally within the MAS business unit and externally, and lead and execute strategic and growth opportunities for the Investment Center.

Responsibilities :

  • Supporting the co-CIO's of the Multi Asset Solutions team in evaluating risk and tracking performance across the business unit.
  • Creating reports and Investment Dashboard views to share with stakeholders to help them better understand both actual and potential investment outcomes.
  • Oversee the workings of the MAS investment governance process and ongoing performance reviews across MAS in conjunction with the CIOs and Heads of Portfolio Management and Risk
  • Communicate and present cross-business-unit performance both to MAS personnel and externally to MAS to senior stakeholders withing Goldman Sachs such as mutual fund oversight boards and divisional heads of public investing.
  • The successful candidate will set the agenda for weekly MAS Investment Core and MAS Dynamic Asset Allocation meetings.
  • More broadly, the successful candidate will ensure compliance with investment process and investment management of strategies, including ongoing evaluation of performance and client suitability.
  • Interface with MAS Engineering in setting priorities for and assessing progress in technology initiatives that facilitate and / or improve the broad investment process including trading systems technology, and the accuracy and availability of investment product data.
  • Exercise leadership in people management activities, such as ensuring productive cooperation among investment and Research teams, and between portfolio management, and client relationship teams, systems development ("strats") and data management teams

Qualifications :

  • At least 6 years of relevant risk, investment, or portfolio management experience
  • Master's Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Background in investing and risk management
  • Experience in working within a dynamic, global team, thereby demonstrating leadership potential
  • Advanced degree or CFA designation preferred
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • A self-starter able to work independently and thrive in a team environment
  • Consistently positive attitude and eagerness to work in a team-centric environment
  • Risk management and control orientation
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills
  • Strong interest in the financial markets, good investment awareness, intermediate or advanced knowledge of asset allocation principles and of factor investing approaches
  • Ability to communicate investment strategies and rationales to audiences of varying levels of sophistication
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; Bloomberg, Reuters, and financial data systems knowledge preferred

Salary Range

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$290000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
